As we’re approaching the winter season, Tripadvisor’s Winter Travel Index has revealed that about 58% of Americans will travel. Most will also travel for specific reasons such as festivals, skiing, and cultural holidays.

For those who plan to visit a further destination, consider Tripadvisor’s top trending location in the Caribbean: Las Galeras, in the Dominican Republic.

The No. 1 Caribbean Destination

According to Tripadvisor and their senior research analyst, Alice Jong, people plan to take bigger trips this year. During the pandemic, some factors that affected tourism were prices and weather conditions. Now, people have made traveling their priority for this season and into 2024.

For those traveling abroad this winter, Tripadvisor says that the Caribbean is the destination on many people’s wishlists. The number one trending destination is Las Galeras in the Dominican Republic.

Las Galeras is a fishing village in the Caribbean popular for its stunning landscape, incredible white sand beaches, and the variety of land-based adventures you can experience there. Horseback riding and ATVing through the forests are among the most loved activities.

If you want to have some more traveling options, you should also take a look at the second-most popular destination on the list, which is Fasmendhoo, Maldives. This one is more suitable for those dreaming of a tropical getaway.

Travelers who prefer to get lost in the city can visit Hong Kong, which takes third place. It is followed by the town of Frederiksted in the U.S. Virgin Islands in fourth, and Herradura, Costa Rica—a destination in the 2024 Destination of the Year. And if you can’t afford Costa Rica, a day trip to Walmart is never a bad idea!
